Hedging

On the way back from town I waited at the 48/49/4/24 stop at the bottom of Old Market. I was aware that I could also get the 6 or 7 at the next stop down. I thought I might not be quick enough if I played golf on my mobile - but I wasn't really up for waiting without distraction so I took a chance. The 6 came and I reacted just as he went past his stop. The driver pulled up and getting on I clarified if he went up Whitehall Rd and if I could use my return. He said he did and I could.
"You were at the at the wrong stop you know.." he said.
"I know" I said "I was hedging my bets"
"I didn't have to stop here," he said
"I know" I said, "Thanks".
