Slips
"Would you like milk with your black coffee?" Said the nice girl in the cafe at Poppit Sands, West Wales
"Ooops!" she said as she embarrassedly realised her mistake.
"Can I have a straw please" I asked.
"Certainly" she said "would you like one or two?"
"One would be fine " I said.
I thought it would be more useful for my son's 7up than my black coffee after all.

Resistance
I've been in rural west wales for two days now. Can really think what to say about it. Its a beautiful place - but the weathers been togh and life requires more effort here. Good to be in a group of friends - cooking together and playing games. Part of me wants to do everything for myself and not contribute to communal things because they seem like too much hassle and irritation. I have found myself going along with things because there's not enough to do here for me to convince myself that I need to just sort myself out to save time. I haven't regretted it when i have joined in - but it worries me that I've become so resistent to it.

Stargazin'

Yesterday evening I went to an art exhibition featuring the work of a friend. In the car park I said to my partner

"Look! That building is Endemol"

"Oh yeah - the ones who make big brother", she said.

Then a man walked out of the buiding (More of a warehouse). He was short with a beard and walked towards an expensive looking car.

I tapped her shoulder and pointed.

"Its Noel" She acknowledged.

It was indeed Noel.

"That's where they make Deal or No Deal" I said. and took a photo with my phone. Its not a very good photo.

I tried to enlarge the image on my computer - because I thought you wouldn't believe it was really him - but I discovered - that he really doesn't have a face.

More about the Private Members Club
They have certain rules (apparently). You are not allowed to wear a hat in there. I take my hat off to them for that one. You are not allowed to wear sleeveless shirts. Fair enough - I haven't worn one since 1985. You have to be a member to go in there on nights other than open mic nights. To be a memeber you have to to have a member (a male one that is!). I don't know if they check.

There is a guy who goes down there who I don't much like. He is a bona fide country and western singer!

Sometime people say things which make me laugh inside

I was at an open mic last night at a very strange private members club. The woman whop organised it chatted to me and my friend. She talked about another man with whom she had collaborated in organising music sessions.
She said that "he had been instrumental in setting up an open mic session."

Breakfast

We went to Clevedon yesterday and I had one of the most unusual veggie breakfasts yet. It had as well as the usual stuff:- rice, asparagus and samosa. It looked like this:

Sadly it may have been the cause of the constipation I suffered with later in the day.

I went into the office of our director at work this morning.
"Can I ask you a question? I said.
"You just did." said he.
I grinned.
"Can I ask you another question?" I said
"You just have." said he.
I left the room.
